Oy Sisu Auto Ab – A Full Service Truck House


Oy Sisu Auto Ab is a full service truck house providing its customers a range of mutually complementary SISU and Renault trucks covering all transportation assignments in over 5-ton gross vehicle load classes.

Sisu Auto’s core business is the sales and servicing of SISU and Renault trucks, with the widest service network in Finland. Sisu Auto’s factory in Karjaa manufactures high-power, multi-axle, factory ready SISU trucks and special vehicles for demanding driving conditions. Sisu Auto also imports Renault trucks to Finland.

Sisu Auto’s turnover is about 100 million euros and staff 170 persons. Sisu Auto’s owner is Suomen Autoteollisuus Oy, which in turn is owned by a group of Finnish investors and the company’s operative management. Sisu Auto’s CEO of Sisu Auto is Mr Olof Elenius and the company board is chaired by Mr Rolf Saxberg.

Sisu Auto has an extensive service network including 35 authorised service centers in Finland.

Elsewhere in the EU area SISU trucks are exported i.e.through the network of Renault Trucks. The registered office is in Karjaa.


Wide Product Range for All Transportation Assignments
Sisu Auto has a wide product range to cover all transportation assignments. It ranges from light Renault trucks in the 5-ton gross vehicle load class up to heavy SISU timber and gravel trucks and special vehicles in the 60-ton gross vehicle load class.

The models of Renault and SISU complement each other perfectly. SISU is specialised in heavy-duty and customised vehicles in over 40-ton gross vehicle load classes, while the Renault product range is focused in under 40-ton gross vehicle load classes. Sisu Auto’s product range includes SISU E trucks and HMTV military models and the Renault product range includes Magnum, Premium, Kerax, Midlum, Mascott, Lander and Maxity.

The Sisu Auto truck factory is located in Karjaa. The strength of Sisu Auto lies in arctic know-how and flexible production technology as well as its specializing in trucks for demanding driving conditions.SISU’s strategy can be crystallised in the words Heavy Duty, High Power, Multi-Axle, Off Highway and Factory Ready that stand for factory ready, multi-axle, high-power trucks and special vehicles with a large load carrying capacity - all designed for demanding driving conditions.

As an independent manufacturer, Sisu Auto is capable of utilising the products of the world’s leading component manufacturers, such as Caterpillar, Renault and Cummins engines, ZF and Eaton-Fuller gears and Renault and Sisu axles.

SISU is the market leader in Finland in the heaviest four and five-axle truck class and the third largest trademark in Finland in trucks of over 16-ton gross vehicle load class. Every second gravel truck and every third timber truck is a SISU.

The annual output of Sisu Auto is about 500 vehicles. Sisu trucks are over 65 percent Finnish and they have received the Finnish mark of origin.

Renault Trucks is an independent part of Volvo Group, which is the largest truck manufacturer in Europe and the second largest in the world. The annual output of Renault Trucks is over 60 000 vehicles. The market share of Renault in Europe and the U.S. is about 12 percent.

Renault focuses in the mass-production of trucks under the 44-ton gross vehicle load class. Traditionally Renault invests in developing the quality standard and driving comfort. A good example of this is Europe’s most up-to-date cabin factory in Blainville, France, where also the cabins used in Finnish SISU trucks are manufactured.

In Finland, Renault has strongly increased its market share especially in delivery trucks and semi-trailer tractors. Renault is the second largest trademark in the 5 to16-ton class, where it holds a market share of 17 percents. Sisu Auto annually imports about 250 Renault trucks.

Sisu Auto pursues broad co-operation with Renault Trucks in sales, components and export operations. SISU uses cabins and engines manufactured by Renault Trucks. SISU exports vehicles to the EU area through the Renault Trucks network.

In export operations SISU is part of the Renault Kerax product family and complements the Renault models at the most heavy-duty end of the range. Sisu Auto and Renault Trucks have no status of ownership, instead, Sisu Auto is fully owned by Suomen Autoteollisuus Oy.
